False Limitations
Henry Ford gave this world the V8 engine. He did not have much formal education. In fact, he did not go to school beyond the age of 14. He was intelligent enough to know there had to be a V8 engine but he was ignorant and didn't know how to build it. So he asked all his highly qualified, educated people to build one. But they told him what could be done and what couldn't. According to them, a V8 was an impossibility. But Henry Ford insisted on having his V8. A few months later he asked his people if they had the V8 and they replied, "We know what can be done and we also know what cannot be done and V8 is an impossibility." This went on for many months and still Henry Ford said, "I want my V8." And shortly thereafter the same people produced his V8 engine. How come? They let their imagination run beyond academic limitation.

Education teaches us what can be done and sometimes also teaches us false limitations. It teaches us what we can do and also teaches us what we cannot do.
THE BUMBLEBEE

According to scientists, the bumblebee's body is too heavy and its wing span too small. Aerodynamically, the bumblebee cannot fly. But the bumblebee doesn't know that and it keeps flying.

When you don't know your limitations, you go out and surprise yourself. In hindsight, you wonder if you had any limitations. The only limitations a person has are those that are self-imposed. Don't let education put limitations on you.

Our Holy Spirit Football team had a good outing this past Saturday at the 1st Annual Georgia Independent 7-on-7 Tournament hosted by the Johnson Ferry program at Sprayberry High School.  After finishing 3-3 in the Round Robin portion of the tournament our team was the 3rd seed going into the Double Elimination rounds.  After losing the 1st game in the Double Elimination rounds to Freedom Academy, our team played well versus Georgia Force-B, East Atlanta (#1 seed), and Johnson Ferry (#2 seed) before being eliminated by Georgia Force A one game away from the championship game. We challenged our players to "have fun, compete, and learn."  We were successful at achieving all goals.

Bryan Mocarski was our teams top Defensive Player with a big interception against East Atlanta to help secure that victory, while Kyle Winkler caught a number of big balls on Offense as our Offensive MVP.   Our young defensive backfield and receiving crew gained valuable experience that will serve as a foundation for Fall competiton.

We appreciate the support of all parents and family members that attended the full day event!

2013 Dates to Remember:

Spring Football Practice – In Review
April 29th through May 3rd

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 3:45 – 6:15

Parents,

Thank you for making it possible for us to conduct a fun and productive Spring practice last week!

With just a few hours each day we were able to develop some practice routines; teach some basic football skills; welcome new and returning players to the program; guzzle down some tasty Muscle Milk Protein drinks; and crown the 1st ever CougarBall Spring Football Champion!

Parents and all in attendance for practice were able to get a glimpse into the HSP Cougars Football program.  While our schedules will remain very similar for Fall Football practice, the rise in Summer temperatures, the intensity of our effort on the field; involvement of our coaching staff; and sense of urgency and level of commitment will rise significantly.

Our staff is looking forward to a productive and fun Summer and Fall of FOOTBALL, and we are so happy to have you along for the ride!

Thank you for your commitment to Holy Spirit Preparatory School Football!

Sincerely,

Andre Taylor

What Are YOU Going To Do NOW?!

We are deep into the Off-Season and a number of HSP Cougar Football players are taking on the challenge of "Building A Champion."

By "paying the price" these young men are showing a level of dedication and devotion to our team that cannot be coached.

Our coaching staff stands proud of the commitment to the TEAM made by these players who are "finding a way" in spite of full academic, athletic, and social schedules.
